Tri-Lakes Monument operates in an area with an
extensive urban interface. In addition, a
substantial portion of the district lacks fire
hydrants. Other parts of the district include
large commercial and retail buildings. Extensive new
construction continues at a rapid pace.
Structure fires,
and many urban interface fires, involve an automatic
mutual aid response from neighboring fire
districts.

In
addition to traditional fire-rescue services, the
district has an
active wildland-urban interface
program with the majority of the district’s members
holding “ Federal Red Cards”.
Tri-Lakes Monument works closely with the National
Forest Service, and particularly the Pike National
Forest. Since our western border includes Pike
National Forest, and since we regularly respond into
the National Forest for fires, medical incidents,
and traffic accidents, this close working
relationship is essential for operational efficiency
and to properly protect the public.
